Adult Basic Education is designed for the adult
learner who wishes to strengthen reading, writing, math, or
life-coping skills. The program offers basic instruction for
adults functioning below an eighth grade reading level.
General Education Development classes offer instruction for
adults who are preparing to pass the GED exam or who desire
to improve writing, math, and reading skills to prepare for
employability, college entrance, or military enlistment.
ESL classes are provided for adults whose native language
is not English. Adults receive instruction in English communication,
including speaking, reading, and writing. Community experiences
are provided to familiarize adults with the American culture.
Instruction is provided for preparation of citizenship tests
and the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
The program combines academic skills, computer technology,
and workplace curriculum to meet the needs of local employers.
Three types of certificate programs are provided-Industrial,
Employability, and Clerical. Successful completion of the
program results in a state-issued certificate, enhanced employability
skills, and improved opportunity for selected jobs.

Programs are available to businesses and industries to enhance
workplace skills. Basic instruction is customized to meet
the needs of the employer.
Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE); Practice Test and GED;
Interest and Ability Inventories; preparation for citizenship
tests, college entrance exams, and the ASVAB test for military
enlistment.
Business and computer classes are available Monday through
Thursday for a small charge for the textbooks. Classes provided
include: Keyboarding, Windows XP and Internet, Microsoft Word,
Office Applications, Microsoft Publisher, Access, Excel, PowerPoint,
Basic PC Maintenance and Upgrade, and Web Page Design.
A 20-hour introduction to Spanish. Key Spanish phrases and
practical communication tips are provided. A small fee is
charged for the textbook and materials.
